senseless

Granny is in hospital now. Doctor says, bacteria / germ (i duno which one) had entered her blood stream, that is why she's having fever every now and then. Some of her organs also failed. I went to visit her at TTSH yesterday afternoon, right after my morning tuition. She looked lethargic but my dad claimed that the day before, she was even more lethargic. She could barely open her eyes and talk.

Whenever Granny gets hospitalised, the issue of religion pops up. It's not an exception this time round. In fact, while I was there, the topic came up again. Well, this time... religion is a hot topic cos.. apparently the doctor told us to be prepared. Things don't look good this time round, and it's all up to her and the medicine they gave to help her combat the evil substance in her.

Anyway, from my pt of view, she had prepared all her life to have a buddhist funeral. But when she became sensile, some people claimed that she wanted to be a Christians and subsequently had her baptised. Honestly, it doesn't matter to me whether she wants to be a buddhist or a christians. What really matters is, what does she want. However, sometimes I feel like even some of her own children don't let her choose what she wants.

I saw tears in her eyes when they were talking abt the religion thing. She might be sensile, but she's not dumb. It's obvious she doesn't want to offend ppl. What makes me mad is... why are those ppl forcing the religion onto her when it's clearly not her choice.

Religion is alwayz a sensitive issue. Even if u truly believe in ur religion and that no other religion is true, jus keep it to yourself. Because (1) other ppl should be given the freedom to choose their own path. (2) what you believe might not even exist at all. You believe in what you believe. But others might not believe in what you believe. There's no happiness in forcing other to believe what you believe.

What makes me mad is that they keep claiming that she doesnt believe in the other religion and would often rebuke others (who are supportive of the other religion) that they do not love her as they love her.

RUBBISH.

If the others don't love her as much as they love her, then they wouldn't even bothered to argue their way. Plus, who would want to choose an alternation that would probably waste more money. If they really dun love her, they would jus settle for the cheapest alternative and not waste time n effort to argue their way.

Adults. No matter how old they are, sometimes... some of them really have no brain or common sense of their own.

And I'm sad to say, this made me lose lots of respect for them.

Exchange

Anyway, I'm not going for exchange next semester. It seems that they dun offered the courses I want during Fall. Only in Winter.

It's some kind of misunderstanding. I search for the modules under Course Catalog for Fall 2006. They had it there. But under Course registration, these courses are not offered. Damnit.

But anyway, doesn't really matter. I can now use those money to invest, travel, keep, spend, or do wateva I want. But I'm VERY tempted to invest some and hopefully bring in more money. hm, I think I'm not ready for that yet. Maybe I shld do some reading up and study abt investment first before I do anything silly.

Happy Birthday Jingz!!!

I didn't know / forgot that Jingz is in Korea now.. but anyway, let me blog abit abt my growing old day!

Like I've blogged earlier on, my family had already celebrated my bday before my sis flew off. So there wasn't any elaborate celebration from my family members. Presents were given way before hand. Got my Canon camera from my da jie, probably some allowances from my dad, and hopefully some more Birks from Germany.

Anyway, I went out with JJ yesterday to mark my 21st birthday. The feeling is jus so weird when u know that u're supposed to b an adult. It's like, one day before... subconsciously u know u're not yet legal to watch R21 show. Then the next day u're legal. U're no longer restricted to most of the stuff bcos u're not 21. It's a weird feeling.

Overall, I was quite happy yesterday! Cos I got many many many pleasant surprises, including one from UK. Haha.

England 2- Trinidad and Tobago 0

I watched my very first World Cup match with a whole crowd of English football fanatics today.
What an experience! The bar was literally bursting at the seams with people- all of whom were staring intently at the huge projector screen plastered on the wall. As we watched the 22 men of interest chasing after that funky world cup ball, chants of "ENG-LAND, ENG-LAND, ENG-LAND" filled the air. Throughout the game, there was no end to the victory shouts, cries of frustrations, songs of support and claps of satisfaction... Ah, the atmosphere. Magical.

Amazing save.

It's interesting to note how the English are so harsh on their own players too. "****! What the hell is he doing?!" or "He's the worst player in the world!" quickly greeted one missed goal after another. There was no mercy amongst the fans. Either you deliver, or you're crap.

Nevertheless, the game was so so so boring for the first 80 minutes or so. The players were so lethargic and there wasn't really anything exciting going on on the pitch (To me, exciting= any fouls, penalties, goals, fights). I yawned. And at that very moment, Peter Crouch delivered. He headed in the first beautiful goal that David Beckham set up for him.


The crowd in the bar went ecstatic. All my male friends who had been cursing and swearing at the poor performance earlier literally lept up in euphoria. They danced and hugged and shouted "England! England!" I couldn't help but jump about on the spot with excitement too.

Liverpool's wonderman Steven Gerrad performed his magic again.

England has won.

Although I don't really understand much about football, I love the World Cup. It's the way it unifies the nation that I find intriguing. And you know what, nobody's complaining about having men like that prancing about on the tv screen either:

My first canon camera!!!! whee... so i took it out for dinner. It's supposed to be my early bday celebration. anyway, this is fruits salad plus duck and chicken... it's sweet sour and spicy. quite nice..

this dish is call qian long yi ping, erh.. i dun know wat it means lar.. i only know qian long used to be an emperor. it has prawns, abalone, veggies scallops and i dunno wat... not bad too...

Prawns!!!!! fried with erh.... i dunnoe wat... tastes alright..... suppose to have dunnoe wat XO sauce but I din taste any leh.

SEA cucumber!!! i wasn't the one who took this photo... but the sea cucumber looked smooth from here!! like some fat fat worm like that

fried bun!! it looks super oily.... but it tastes really delicious. It's crispy even when i ate it half an hour lateer when its no longer hot ... and of cos...... you cannot jus have the bun alone. It goes well with MEAT!!!!!

YUm................................... Alright that's all for today.....
